HIKING VS TREKKING VS MOUNTAINEERING - WHICH DO YOU CHOOSE?

Most people tend to think that hiking, trekking and mountaineering are the same things. However, they are not. So, in this blog the difference between them is stated. Have look at the things below:

Hiking

The easiest of the three is hiking. You walk on well-marked trails of easy to moderate difficulty, although this depends on where you’re hiking. For hiking tours, you need minimal equipment in comparison to Trekking and mountaineering. You can get a listing of everything you need to get a day hike here. Always be sure to bring lots of water! If you're new to hiking, start with shorter, flatter hikes and work your way up from there. Also, if you've never hiked before it may seem difficult the first couple of hikes that you do. But stick with it. It gets simpler.

And you'll be surprised at how quickly you progress, Particularly if you're doing extra cardio workouts involving hiking. It is important to get a balance between challenging yourself but not overdoing it.

The other thing to be Conscious of is that the first 15-20 Minutes of hiking is often the worst till you enter a breathing rhythm. It can be tempting to think it is too difficult and to quit if your lungs feel like they're on fire but commit to hiking for a minimum of 30 minutes. Then see how you feel.

Once you find your breathing rhythm, then it gets simpler and becomes more enjoyable.

Trekking

Trekking is involving trekking and mountaineering regarding difficulty. Even though it's more like hiking. The distinction being that treks are more compared to lifts.

When I say more, it doesn't mean that they take a couple Longer hours. These trips usually take at least two days.

Trekking is more challenging than hiking because you will be Walking for a number of days in a row.

Treks usually start in one area and end in another one. The space may vary anywhere from ~40 kilometers to a few hundred kilometres away. Some of the most well-known treks can take a couple of weeks to complete.

In Nepal, the trekking can be of Langtang Trek, Everest Base Camp trek and many more.

Mountaineering

mountaineering

Of the three, mountaineering is by far the hardest. It's a more technical variation of trekking that takes you to higher peaks. Frequently to ones that are over 5000 meters above sea level.

Previous physical and technical training. You need more gear than with trekking or hiking. And you'll also need to understand how to use it correctly.
By way of example, you have to know how to climb on ice with crampons. You also need to know how to use an ice breaker. And how to safely cross huge cracks on the ice.

Not to mention how to endure snowstorms, and how to walk glaciers. And if you slide, how to save yourself with an ice breaker.

Additionally, in certain places, you need to be powerful enough To be able to endure long hours of tinkering using low levels of oxygen.

Mountaineering is already proving to be quite an exciting Challenge, even the preparation for it's a lot of fun.
